Hooray! I have the internet again! We're leeching it off our landlady's wireless broadcast for a pretty minimal fee. For those of you who don't know, I'm in my new house now. It's pretty cool, but I won't get into that.
Moving on. Blueshift 2 was fun, but left much to be desired too. I don't feel like accounting the whole thing right now, so here are some anecdotes:

As soon as we set up camp, my friend Laura asked me to take care of her friend Cooper. He was barely conscious and puking on his shirt due to beer, speed, and sleep deprivation. It was awkward.

Andy concocted a drink called the Blueshift special: box wine, Capri Sun, and Red Bull. Also, he invented the term Clownstep, which is corny drum and bass with a wobbly, pitch-bending bassline.

Nick was so drunk that he couldn't stand under his own power, much less take a single step. He also couldn't stop laughing uncontrollably. Andy and I had to carry him fireman-style to his hammock.

There was a bouncy castle there. I tried to do a backflip, landed on my upper back, and whacked my knee into my chin, raising a bump on my knee, loosening my left front tooth, and tearing open my lower lip. I definitely bled a lot, but it was fun capturing the resulting adrenalin rush to do some freaky dancing with blood pouring out of my mouth and down my chin. I hope somebody took a picture.I tried to open a popcap today with my teeth and a big chip fell off. Shit.

Paul Anthony was the best set of the weekend. He's a master of boiling tension and incredible mashing skills before the beat drops. Also, he can scratch. He will be our new god. I danced like some sort of sleep-deprived ape.

Spree sucked. he only played oldschool happy hardcore, plus his records all sound like they have been played thousands of times because the treble is basically gone. It's like listening to a phonograph. He should retire, or at least punch himself a few times. Hixxy was decent.

Scott Brown's set was basically what I expected: solid and awesome but no surprises. He did play a few tracks I didn't recognize, though. I was still so excited to see him that I danced crazily enough to worry the people backstage. They left, returning with a medic, who then both looked and pointed at me with concern, thinking I was going to OD or collapse from heat exhaustion. I was basically sober at that point, besides a lot of Red Bull and sleep deprivation. I pointed back and laughed.

Scott Brown signed my chest!

My brain exploded after Scott Brown's set. I had let out all the energy I had left and then some during Scott Brown, and that in combo with no sleep and too much partying and screaming made me shut down. I was definitely hallucinating and very confused and disoriented. Sleep deprivation trips are no fun. Also, I lost my voice screaming at Scott Brown. Katie and John were leaving so I took off with them kind of reluctantly. If I had found an alternate ride earlier I would have stayed the night, but it's hard to find people when you can't really see anything and have crappy vision to begin with.

Yeah. That's that. Let the campout/music fest withdrawl begin. I definitely miss having a constant beat in the background. I should hire some guy to follow me around all day and beat a drum.

I totally didn't invent that word, nor did I claim to. Unless I did, because I'm a liar.

My illusion is shattered, like so many records over Elekid's head!

Other good highlights were:

Friday night, when the temperature dropped 25 degrees, causing a huge fog bank to roil off the lake. It was like sitting in a cloud.

Friday and Saturday afternoons, hotboxing the tent Sarah and James had rented, as well as convincing Nick to participate.

Good sets by Doormouse, TJ Richter, some anonymous hard house on the main stage and techno and jungle on the Minneapolis stage, and seeing some Madison locals throw down at their awesomely decorated tent.

Roasting corn in a fire.

Seeing all the shooting stars, which I have learned are know locally as the Tears of St. Lawrence (Perseid meteors).

Hixxy was decent.

Were we in attendance at the same rave?

He was ok, I'm not a big fan of the epic-y, grandiose supersaw anthem-core that Hixxy seems to love. I liked some of his harder tracks though, and he definitely got the crowd moving.

Who is this by the way?

This is Tim, oops. I cleared all of my cookies and forgot to login. I'll give you that, a bit too epic. A little too much build-up and not enough hard beats. But overall, I was quite impressed (if only because I came into it expecting so little).

Yeah, definitely better than Spree, that's for sure. That first track, uh, "Hardcore is Alive" (?) was cool.

I actually thought Spree was better than his usual suckery. He played anthems and new hardcore, instead of a bunch of non-hhc stuff like he's been known to play recently. Admittedly he's no world-class DJ, but I feel I can be semi-proud of our local boy.

And I know what track you're talking about, but I don't believe that's the title... hell if I knew what it was. I'd like a copy of that if I could only figure out what it was called.
